The hare zoomed ahead, so far that he decided to nap under a shady tree. "I have plenty of time," he yawned, and fell fast asleep.
The tortoise kept walking, slow but steady, one step after another. He never stopped, not even to rest.
While the hare snored on, the tortoise quietly passed him by.
When the hare woke up, he dashed to the finish line — but the tortoise was already there, smiling! Everyone cheered.
